Michael Cade
Executive Director

As executive director of the Thurston County Economic Development Council, Michael Cade provides overall

direction and program development. He began this position in January, 2004.  Prior to joining the EDC, Michael served as the vice president of the Snohomish County Economic Development Council from 1992 – 2003. 

His career in economic and community development began in 1987. For the past 23 years he has focused primarily on recruiting community investment, retaining existing companies, creating quality communities and serving on community task forces.

Michael currently serves on the board of directors for Thurston County United Way, Olympia-Lacey-Tumwater Visitors & Convention Bureau, Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council and the Thurston Chamber Business Incubator.

 

Michael has a degree in geography from Western Washington University.

Renée Sunde
Marketing and Business Development Director

Renée Sunde works with EDC investors and community partners to grow, retain and enhance investment and job opportunities in Thurston County. Renée joined the EDC team in February, 2005.

With more than 17 years of experience in marketing and business development, Renée supports the organization's efforts to attract expanding companies to relocate in Thurston County.

Her other roles include: assisting local companies in job retention and growth, and working with the South Sound Manufacturer's Alliance and Business Retention programs to create opportunities that directly benefit the region’s economy.

 

Renée attended Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington, and studied business management. Ms. Sunde serves on the Salvation Army Board of Regents, the Lacey Chamber Board of Directors, and as the Chair of Roxy Connector Business Roundtable for the Lacey Chamber. She is a business representative for TRPC Transportation Policy Board, sits on the TRPC Urban Corridors Task Force, and is an active Olympia Rotary Member.  In 2006, she graduated from the Lead Thurston County (LTC) program.

Tiffany Scroggs
Business Resource Center Manager

As Business Resource Center Manager, Tiffany is a certified contracting assistant specialist with the Procurement Technical Assistance Center that provides assistance to businesses bidding on government contracts. She also counsels owners of new and existing small business, coordinates the Service Corps of Retired Executives program (SCORE), develops and implements training programs and manages the Business Resource Center library. Tiffany also assists in staffing the Thurston County Asset Building Coalition. 

 Tiffany joined the EDC team in November 2007. She has a BA in Communication from Western Washington University and a Master’s in Public Administration from The Evergreen State College. She’s a LEAD Thurston County Graduate (2007), serves on United Way’s community investment committee and is active in West Olympia Rotary.

John Tamble

PTAC Administrator

John has over 30 years experience working with the athe Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) including developing introduction and training seminars for the general public in bid/proposal development, contract administration, and procurement regulations and policy. His position with the Economic Development Council includes providing technica assistance to small businesses seeking federal government contracts through the PTAC program.

Crista Rifenberg
Finance and Office Services Manager

Crista  joined the EDC in July 2007 as administrative assistant. She was recently promoted to Finance and Office Services Manager. Crista provides support for the overall business operations of the Thurston Economic Development Council and Business Resource Center. She is responsible for maintaining financial accounting and fiscal oversight of the organization’s operations in addition to providing human resource and office services support.

Ramsey Zimmerman

Ramsey was hired as the Program Director of the Thurston Energy Program in January 2010. This program is a collaboration between the Thurston Climate Action Team and the Economic Development Council. The program's goal is to retrofit the existing built environment within the county. The program will provide homeowners and businesses with a one stop approach for audits, advice, selection of contractors, attractive financing, utility rebates and project monitoring. Rachel Reischman
Administrative Assistant

Rachel joined the EDC team in April 2009. She is a current student at South Puget Sound Community College where she is earning her AAS in Office Administration. Her role with the EDC includes staffing the front desk, coordinating event services, and providing administrative support to the EDC, Business Resource Center, NW Manufacturers Alliance, Thurston Energy, and the Small Business Development Center.
